Mt copy of XP PROI is not kosher!

I have a new kosher copy to install. If I install over the bad copy
will the new installation pickup the new registration and allow me to
register the proper copy. Hope that makes sense.

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update:

Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326904&Product=winxp

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

I take it that if I have the full OEM version of XP PRO - legal of
course - as you say below the install should be straight forward via
'Repair Install' follow on screen instructions.

Thank you for your time by the way.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO DO THE SAME THING. I TRIED TO OVER INSTALL A PIRATED COPY I PURCHASED. UPON REINSTALLING A NEW VERSION I CAN'T GET IT TO TAKE MY LICENSE KEY NUMBER.
