Installing Xp onto a different system

The computer I installed this copy of XP on had a major
hardware failure (the video card cooling fan failed and
the heat buildup destroyed the CPU or MB, I didn't
determine which failed).

This system is old enough that I decided to junk it
instead of sinking more money in it. Is there a process
that will allow me to install this copy of XP on any new
system I get?

Depends.. But usually - yeah.

Install Windows XP. If you cannot activate by Internet - it should give you
a phone number. Call the phone number and activate. Done.

You already got correct advice. The remaining risk is that you
have an OEM version of Windows XP that's tied to the hardware.
In this case you lose it and have to obtain a new copy of XP.

You'll notice soon enough when you try to install it.
