My friends has hardrive has packed up, I have a spare hard drive, is it
possible to piggyback the spare on to my PC and install xp to the piggy back
one then install the piggy back harddrive on my friends PC wih the freshly
installed xp on it.

Hope this makes sense.
thanks

This will not work unless you and your friend have the exact same hardware.
Why not KISS and just put the extra HD on your friends computer and format
it as a second drive? Or, if you want only one drive, just remove his
original drive, put in the new one, install XP. After that, you can put the
old HD back in to copy over any docs and pics (you cannot copy over
installed programs, you'll need to fresh install them to the new HD). Good
Luck.

just take the hd and install
it on the other system and
install xp on that system.

otherwise because of the
anti piracy protection the
o.s. is programmed with,
the o.s. will notice a difference
in the equipment from where
it was installed (your pc) to its
new location (friends pc).

after the o.s. in installed it
will require activation.
