Here's my situation: I currently have XP (ugrade from ME) running on a 20GB HD. The drive is full to the point that I cannot make home videos. I have a new 160 GB HD that I want to install the entire contents of my current C drive on, then make the new HD my primary "C"drive. If this can be done, how? And is it a lot of trouble? Thanks in advance

You may wish to visit the support website of the manufacturer of your
new hard drive and see if they have a free utility program that you can use to
accomplish this task. For example, if you have a new Western Digital drive,
you can download their free Data Lifeguard Tools which includes "drive-to-drive
copy capability" (Ref: http://support.wdc.com/download/).

Fujitsu

Seagate

Or you can purchase Norton Ghost and create an "image"
of your old hard drive:

Bad idea for video editing

You should never have your video files on the same drive as software

Video editing requires FAST access to a hard drive, and the drive with
your software (and windows swap file) is subject to interruptions due
to the software doing "house keeping" chores

I have a 20gig C drive with all software
I have a 100gig D drive with ONLY video files
See my Video page at the jtsmith link below

Install your new drive as the primary drive on your 2nd ribbon cable,
so you do not have conflicts with the ide controller on the C drive

If you really need space on your 20gig drive, move some data files
to the new hard drive
