I am attempting to install XP Home on a Dell D600 Latitude Notebook which
already has Windows 2000 Professional installed. I am unable to install XP
Home, as an error message informs me it is not compatible. Can anyone advise
me how to proceed? I want to replace the Windows 2000 Professional with XP
Home Edition. Thank you!

Windows Xp Home Edition is not an *upgrade* from Windows 2000 - at least not
in the strict sense that youcan install over Windows 2000 and maintain your
programs/profiles with Windows XP Home Edition. In order to install Windows
XP Home Editon - you will have to perform a clean installation (boot from
CD, follow directions, when asked where to install - delete the partition,
create a new partition, format and continue following directions.), install
all your programs over again and copy all of your data back from your
backups (email, contacts, documents, spreadsheets, internet favorites,
pictures, etc.)
