Installing without CD

My question is when I have done a "Run all from my
computer" Custom install of Office 2000/Outlook

I have IMO install and want to change it to CW mode

Why does it ask for the Office CD?
Is the file not installed when I chose the "Run all from
my computer method?

Is there a way to navigate to a specific file on a local
drive? (I.E. the PRO.MSI file it seeks)?

I have 50 remote computers and do not want to have to burn
multiple Cds to do this. Is there a way to centralize
this file it needs on a network drive via dialup or other
alternative local?

The install point is set in the registry on the clients
machine. Many moons ago I was able to repoint
the clients registry to a different install point so that
it could find the install files.

Why not setup to install from a network location. Then when and if the workstation of Offic
needs to access the install files for any reason it will go back out to the network location it wa
installed from to access the files. I have setup a file server here just for the network installatio
of workstation software. Some Microsoft applications can be picky about the CD they consider th
original install CD but has always accepted the network location as valid. Just a thought

That is a good point. I should have added to my
previous message that installs are best done from
a network location from the start.

However, now the only options left for this person
are to (a) Sit at each workstation with the CD, (b) Undo
what has already been done and install from a Network
location for easier future updates or
(c) find the registry fix, push it out, and hope for the best.

Did you ever find a way around having to use the cd? I am having the same problem as well.
