Installing Winodws XP sp3 -- Help

Hi,

I am just upgrading WinXP's SP2 to SP3. Then I got an Windows File
Protection pop up window.

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by
unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability. Windows must restore the
orignal versions of these files. The network location from which the files
shuld be copied. C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386/vcrtl.man. is not available."

So where can I find the files? The reason I upgrades my computer is I cannot
open IE7 and IE Options. When I try to open IE, it just opens in one second,
then it colosed by itself.

You are updating - not upgrading.

SP3 is not going to fix your Internet Explorer issues. Installing a patch
to fix something it is not intended to fix could just compound and confuse
the issue.

Please explain your original problem in more detail.
 
If you recieve a "file protection" message,then simply install xp cd,exit the
window,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow When its thru,remove
xp cd,type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:EXIT Restart pc.

What was the original problem with IE. Can you explain it in detail along with the error message(s) that were shown

I found the vcrtl.man on the XP CD in [drive]:\I386\ASMS\6000\MSFT
\VCRTL and then copied it to C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386/vcrtl.man.
Fixed the error for me.
