installing Windows Vista

I have been trying to install vista keep geting error "could not update boot
configuration" what is wrong and how do I fiv it

I cannot install Vista at all. I followed instructions on burning it on DVD
to install for students to try at school. But it does not even strat. We try
to upgrade from trial version of Windows XP. Any tips will be appreciated.

if you insert the DVD while in XP do you get a box with files on it? (dont
let it sart if it does just close it and open windows explorer for the DVD
drive) it should display i think is 8 different files, not one folder with
files in it. or if the window is empty then most likely the DVD player just
doesnt like the DVD you used.

I have only one file that I burnt to DVD according instructions for
download. It is read on my computer at home (although I didnot try to install
because I do not want to install it on my home computer) but it is not read
on school computers.
 
Normally school administrators wont allow students to install any software at
all let alone a whole new operating system. To install it you would have to
get admin privileges unless your an admin urself?
 
Did you burn it as an ISO file? You can't simply burn a DVD, you must use
the burn as image provision of your DVD writer.
