Please dont be mad if this is a repost. i want to install windows vista on
an external hard drive (firewire or usb). when ever i try this, during
installation it says it cannot boot off the hard drive. can i configure the
BIOS so it can boot? If not can i install it on virtual pc 7 for mac?

Don't worry about it. If you used the link in Vista Help and Support then
the web-based reader that came up has a bug and you should report it.

You cannot boot Vista from a usb or firewire external hard drive. The only
external hard drives that can do that at this time are SATA external
enclosures that connect to the mobo via a SATA passthrough mounted in an
expansion slot.

Vista on VPC 7 would not work out. It is terribly slow in VPC for Windows
(that runs about three times faster than the Mac version). It just would
not help you on the Mac. The cpu emulation on the Mac version just cannot
execute fast enough.

If you have one of the new MacIntels, then Parallels for Mac might work out.
