Is it possible to reinstall Windows 97 into Windows XP? I
recently updated my puter with a new hard drive, memory,
CPU etc. I had Windows 98 before with Windows 97
installed on it.

Do you mean Windows 98? There is no Windows '97'.

I am sure you mean Office97? Office97 is compatible with Windows XP.
If you had Office97 as a part of the installation from your computer
vendor (Dell, Gateway, etc) then you need to install it from the
installation CD. AIRC, OEM Office CDs from the Win98 era could be
installed with the correct CD key and were not tied to the CPU/HD/OS
serial numbers, but the EULA might restrict the installation to the
original computer as received. If you did not receive an Office97
installation CD, then it is probably on a Restore CD, which will restore
not only Office97 but Windows98 as well to the original state of the
computer as recieved from the vendor, and possibly to only the orginal
HD. Check both the vendor's support site as well as the original
documentation that you have.
