Hi -

I am building a computer (which I've never done before)
and I want to know how I go about installing Windows 2000
on it.

I think I have to partition my drive first, but I'm not
really sure. I then assume I can insert my windows 2000
CD and it will be easy from there.

Does anyone have or know of any step-by-step instructions
for how to do all of this?

Thanks,

Dylan MacDonald

Time to visit the local bookstore and pick up a good Windows 2000
textbook or manual. The basic steps are to boot the computer with
the Windows 2000 cdrom. When needed, setup will ask the installer
how it should fdisk the HD into primary and extended partitions
(logical drives are created later using Disk Management). But this
is just one aspect of setting up the Windows 2000 system.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and/or format the system partition as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
