I am about to purchase a Promise RAID card for my comp, and would like to clean install my Win 2000 OS on a RAID 0 array of (2) 80GB WD Caviars. Some sites have said that this is possible, yet others have said it is not.

I would like to clear this up because I have to make this purchase in 1 day and would like a professional answer: Can Win 2000 be installed on a Promise RAID card in a Striping array?

Any help/info is appreciated greatly.

Yes, it's fine. The controller should come with a floppy disk with drivers.
When you start the W2K install, one of the first things you'll see in the
blue-screen part of the install is "Press F6 if you have any third party
RAID drivers" or something like that. Press F6 at that point. Nothing will
happen when you do, but you'll be prompted for the floppy disk a few moments
later. If they load right and all is cool, you'll be fine. W2K will see
your array as just one single drive.

Most significant is to enter the Raid Card BIOS to create a Stripe Array
(Raid 0).
To enter the BIOS ( maybe press [Ctrl+H] to enter) just after the Memory
Test has been executed by the mainbord's Power-On-Self-Test.^_^
