I take it you don't mind wiping your drive ? If you have
anything you want to keep, transfer it to another PC, or
to CDRW, then visit the Maxtor site and
download 'Maxblast'. This is a wee dos programme you put
on a floppy and use to boot your computer and wipe the
drive.
Note : you will have to reinstall any applications you
had, so make sure you have the installation CDs/disc, or a
copy of the intallation programmes.
Maxblast is meant for maxtor drives, but I've found it
works with most other makes of drive. Use it to wipe your
drive and format for Win 2K, this will only take a few
minutes, then install from your Win 2K install disc. As
Maxblast will already have formatted your drive, you won't
have to format for Win 2K, so just tell the install
programme to leave filing system as is. No guarantees, but
it should work. This is how I work with lap-tops that come
with Win XP pre-installed, as we use Win 2K Pro,
Ken
