Jared

Hi, I'm running win98SE and am looking for a way to
install my new VS .NET professional 2003 that I got over
Christmas.

When I run the installed it says that it doesn't support
98, but I've heard that it will run if you can get it
installed, and am wonering if anyone knows of a hack or
something to get the installer to run on win98SE, even if
the product isn't 100% functional.

Thanks in advance!

..NET applications can run in W98 but the IDE won't. It's not supported by
Microsoft. What's the point of trying to fit a square peg and all that? Get
the XP Pro upgrade. You'll have a *real* OS and you'll be happy. Best $90 or
whatever you'll spend =)

98SE, once tweaked, is more stable, more effecient, and
more secure for my use than XP. I have no intention of
paying $ for an inferior operating system, when my current
one works great.

I do all of my development on 98, so I am looking for a
solution to get .NET to install on 98 please, not looking
for comments saying "get xp or 2k".

When I was programming on a win98 I often accidentally crashed my computer
when debugging one of my programs (maybe i'm a bad programmer ...). With XP
I have a lot less crashes.

You can't install VS.Net on 98. It's not supported. You could try #develop
(http://www.icsharpcode.net). AFAIK the editor works on 98.

Can you give some examples of what you wrote?
