Installing Vista

I took the compatibility program it said I was good to go. Loaded Vista so
many times I can't count. Every time I get to "loading windows for the first
time" it shuts down and takes it all back.

Obviously something is wrong in spite of the upgrade advisor. Since you
haven't told us anything about your computer, the peripherals, and what you
have installed, you can't get specific suggestions.

Post back with details as above and maybe we can help you figure out why the
Vista installation is failing. If you get any error messages at all, make
sure to include the exact text.

In addition to what the advisor says, make sure you remove any anti-virus
and firewall, and unplug any USB devices.
 
In particular, antivirus software can prevent writing the entries to the
registry that are needed to complete the installation.
