I've been trying to install a fresh copy of vista RC1 to my computer. it has
200 g hard drive and is a pentium D the motherboard is a p5vdc-mx. after
loading the setup files and goes in were it ask for language and the first se
of questions it locks up and can not install vista. first though was conflict
with graphic card or something but now I am down to just my hard drive,
dvd-rom, motherboard & cpu, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Still get lock up
after it loads the setup files and gets to the first questions about
language, time, and input method.

So then though it might be the dvd so I put the dvd in my son's computer
that is alot slower than mine and only a 20gig hard drive and vista installed
just fine on it no problems at all. That is how I am on here now. So if you
have any help to give me about why vista is locking up when installing would
help alot, thanks.

Do you have XP SP2? If you do try upgrading from it. What version of Vista
are you trying to install? Check your processor and see if it is a 32-bit or
a 64-bit processor and use the corresponding DVD.

I tried upgrading from xp sp2 but after it reboots it blue screens on me and
comes up as stop error 0x0000007b. not sure what to do from here. I have a
maxtor IED 2oo gig hard drive and a asus p5vdc-mx motherboard with a 2.66
pentium d that can use 32 bit or 64 bit and i 've tried both and same thing
happens.

There are 3 threads that mention the ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard. ALL 3 threads
have the same problem - the install freezes or blue-screens.

MICROSOFT, LISTEN UP: There is an INCOMPATIBILITY
between ASUS P5VDC-MX and WINDOWS VISTA!
