I'm looking to install Vista on a 27GB spare HD that I have hangin around in
order to test my motherboard, amongst other things, before I install it on my
day to day that happens to work great with XP. The Vista upgrade advisor
mentioned a couple of things that I want to check before I go and tank my
current OS.

Question: With all the forced online registration will MS slap me around if
I do the above scenario being that it would be on 2 different hard drives?
All other hardware would be the same.

Install Vista and do not enter the product key and uncheck the
"Automatically go online and activate" option during the install. You will
be given the option of which version to install, make sure that you select
the version that you purchased. You will have 30 days to evaluate Vista and
then either reinstall or enter the procuct key and activate the
installation.

As Ronnie says -- and if you do a Google on [extend grace period VISTA]
you will find a legitimate way to extend the 30day period up to 120
days.

I'm doing that while waiting for my copy of Ultimate to arrive.
