Installing Video Drivers

I've downloaded a driver installation package from Nvidia, but I cannot find
any instructions.
The card is a Ge Force FX 5200. It is currently using Windows-supplied
drivers.
I wonder if the current drivers should be "uninstalled" before the new ones
are installed.
Or should I just "run" the new setup file?
Are there "extra" apps that I do not have to install?

Generally speaking, I try to "uninstall" the previous driver package.
Even if changing from one Nvidia video card to another one.

Check your "Add/Remove" and see if there is an entry in there for Nvidia
Detonator or Forceware.

The Windows supplied driver, could be a default VGA driver, which is
not much of a driver at all. If that is the one you are referring to,
then don't worry about that. But if you got an actual Nvidia driver
via Windows Update, I'd try and remove that, if it is possible.

There are also "driver cleaner" programs for Nvidia and ATI drivers,
that are partially successful. Some people swear by them, but personally,
I see no reason to invoke them, unless something is broken. In the
experiments I tried in the past (several years ago now), the cleaner
didn't get everything.

Thanks, Paul. I had removed the Nvidia drivers several years ago because
they were causing blue screen terrors. The VGA driver was adequate for my
needs. However, lately, since installing SP3 for Word, I find that scrolling
through documents causes text to get jumbled--multiple lines on top of each
other. I'm only guessing--hoping--that updated video drivers will resolve
the issue.
I'm also considering a clean reinstall of Word--and avoiding the SP3 patch.

They are remove Nvidea display drivers in Add/Remove dialogue
