I bought Visual Basic.NET 2003 and am trying to install it.
From the CD, 4 options appear with only the first one active and it
says that some program requires me to reboot before proceeding.
So I reboot and the same thing happens - like I did not reboot.
I cannot find anything in any help or knowledge base that I can find.
System: Windows XP - P4 - 640MB Ram.
Any suggestions?
Is this the right place?

Did you turn off all virus scanners and system security software before
running the setup?

I had the same thing happen. I just went ahead and installed the prerequisite CD anyway and it worked fine. I ignored the message box that said I needed to start with CD # 1....

Your message was the help I needed. I assumed you used setup.exe on
the Prerequisites CD, so that is what I used and it worked.
Then I tried to install VB.NET but it did not work.
Then I recalled reading that Framework should not be on the system and
I had downloaded it, so I deleted it.
Then I ran the Prerequisites again and that worked.
Then I tried to install VB.NET again and this time it worked.
Everything is loaded now but when I tried to do the Product
Registration, I got the message that MS is not doing that.
So thank you muchly for showing me the way.

Yes, I tried that before because there is a hint in the install help
and I have Symantec-Norton.
I don't know if there is another way around my problem but the loading
of the Prerequisites hint would have saved me some time and a lot of
frustration if it had been in the help suggestions.
I assumed that it would not allow me to do that, until it was
mentioned.
