installing/uninstalling problem

I had downloaded the new Beta version and it worked fine. However due to a
problem with McAfee updating problems, I had to use system restore to bring
the computer to an earlier date. This in turn reverted the new Beta back to
the old one. When I try to install the new beta version, or uninstall the
old beta version I get the following message:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, ….(Etc.)". I also get this message if I
try "click here for support information" in the add/remove.

I can no longer go back to the restore point where it actually was working.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Good idea, unfortunately it didn’t work. The entirety of the message I am
getting is “This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch
package exists and that you can access it, or contact the applications vendor
to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch packageâ€. I
appreciate your effort, thank you.

I used Windows Installer Clean Up Installation Wizard, and then I used
Windows Installer 3.1, but it didn’t fix the problem. Do you or anyone know
of any instructions for manually removing Microsoft AntiSpyware files and
registry entries? I suspect (and I’m only guessing) is that I might have to
clean out the remainder of the old program line by line since I can’t
add/remove it automatically. Once I can get it completely out of the system
then possibly the new AntiSpyware might load. Thanks again for your
response and help.

Thanks for your help Engel. I found a program called "Your Uninstaller!
2006" with a 21 day full version free trial. It completely removed the
pieces of the MS Antispyware that was still in the computer. Apparently it
was the reason for the problem. After that, I was able to download the new
Beta version without a hitch. I really appreciate your responses and
efforts.
