Can I install the software that I had on my Windows ME onto my Windoes XP
without hurting my XP. Some of the software is MS Excel, Version 5,
Quicken 2004 & NationsBank? I tried to add this question to the Newsgroup
site, but the New Post would not work. Probable something I didn't do
right. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, trudy
Suggestion: In Outlook Express, Tools, Account, News add
msnews.microsoft.com. Then you will be able to access these Microsoft
newsgroup from the MS server. Usually you will get better performance.
Office is now at version 11. You Excel version 5 may be DOS and may not
work with Windows XP. Suggest you look for guidance at an Excel newsgroup
such as microsoft.public.excel.newusers or an Office newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.office.misc. Both are on the above server.
Installing your Quicken 2004 will not damage Windows XP. I do not know if
Quicken has any updates recommended for Windows XP.
You listed some of the software. What you did not list may be a problem
Usually programs such as anti-virus, system utilities, or firewalls etc. may
require a recent version to be compatible with Windows XP. Programs such as
CD burner, printer or scanner programs {especially drivers} may also need to
be updated. Vendor web site is the best source of compatibly information.
