Installing Sis Audio Driver - Data Invalid?

I just recently reinstalled (clean) windows xp pro sp2 on my sony vaio
pcv-rx752.
I downloaded the driver from the web page. Installed it numerous times even
in safe mode. I tried to force windows to see the drivers by going into
device manager and pointing to where the driver was installed. It would find
the driver, start installing it and then proceed to tell me that it couldn't
install it because the data is invalid.

I've been to the sony website downloaded the driver for my computer. I've
searched on the internet for a new driver and they all come up the same. It
says that the data is invalid.

Anyone know why I'm getting this response? I've reinstalled the driver
before I did the clean install and it took it fine. Now all of a sudden the
data is invalid?

Any help would be appreciated.

This can occur for several reasons, one of them -
"forcing" Windows to do something what it doesn't like.
Try call Sony support.

I did talk to sony, and they gave me a link to instructions on how to do a
clean install.

I read it over and I've done ask the instructions asked, yet I still get the
error.

I went to microsoft and saw that they had a solution by deleting the old
driver cab file and pasting the new one in the driver directory.

The problem is it sees it and knows what it is, it just won't take the
drivers.

I'm at a loss and I really don't want to have to go out and buy a new
soundcard.

This can be caused by installing wrong INF files, for example,
INFs for win98 or win2000, or belonging to different hardware model.
Sorry, I don't know how to fix this by email. Perhaps visit to a local computer store can help.

Good luck
