Is it possible to install a service with startup type auto from the command
prompt in Windows 2000?
prompt in Windows 2000?
Greg Moseley said:Have you got an XP desktop anywhere that you can install it? You only
need the copy instsrv.exe from it once installed.
Details on the Windows 2000 resource can be found here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/rktour/server/s_too
ls.asp but you have to purchase it. Windows 2003 Reskit is a free
download.
Thanks

When I tried to install it it said it required Win XP or later.

kit available from

Command line usage:
instsrv ServiceName PathToExecuteable [-a AccountName] [-p
AccountPassword]
Hope this helps.

Thanks Mr Moseley,
How do I install the service with startup type auto in the starting
configuration? The info which appears when I type "instsrv" at the
command
prompt doesn't tell me anything about that.
Regards,
Joachim
