OK, I've successfully reformatted the hard drive on an old computer and XP
Home is up & running.

What is the EASIEST method for me to use to install all of the necessary
updates to bring it up to date? Please note I have no Internet connection on
the old PC. I believe I've read here that one can download all of the
necessary files on another PC, transfer them to a CD or memory stick, then
install them on another PC. What I'm looking for are step-by-step
instructions as to which order updates should be installed, and if there are
any 'danger' signs to be aware of.

Thanks.

Does your installation already have SP2? If not here a couple of
suggestions.

One way would be to get the SP2 CD from Microsoft. It contains all
of the fixes up to that point. Here's a link that explains how to get
it. http://pcsupport.about.com/b/a/137364.htm

Another would be to go to this site and download the network
installation Package. Watch for line wrap. It's a long one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded the network package & it worked like
a charm!
