Big Bill
I installed the external drive physically, it's in situ. I connected
the sata lead from it to the sata1 connector on the motherboard. I
also had a sata 2 connector that was just the same, I couldn't see
anything to indicate preference for one over the other so I plumped
for the sata 1.
I couldn't work out where to plug the disk activity connector so I
just left it loose.
Anyhoo, boots up fine and runs as it did before, doesn't comment on
the fact there's now a caddy but I don't see any reason why it should
when that caddy's empty.
I shove the new sata drive into the caddy. The caddy green light comes
on and stays on. Something sees something in there.
So, given I have XPSP2, what do I do now to get the new sata drive
installed please? If it helps at all, I already have an internal sata
installed and an external drive connected by usb. They both seem to be
fine.
Many thanks for any assistance, I don't think this will be a tricky
one, I just don't know how to do it :-(
