I have obtained and managed to install a full server 2000
system in the Russian language. It is very difficult to
manage the server as most application prompts are in
Russian. Is there a way of changing files so that the
english applicatin prompts and messages are displayed.

Hi,

you can go to control panel, select Regional Options.
in the General tab, select "Your locale (location)",
choose the languaage you like, then reboot the computer.
if that does not work, try selecting the lower box in the
General tab. hope this can help you, good luck!!

Thanks Ken,

I did all of this during the install and that has enabled
keyboard input to be recognised as english but all
programme menus etc are in russian so I am having to
guesse my way arround the system - not easy especially
when error messages or warnings are displayed.

Thanks,

I posted in two groups because the issue is unclear. It
is not exactly a setup issue as the fix you have
suggested (and in fact had already been carried out
before my posting)does not affect the language that the
application prompts and menu items are displayed in. They
do however affect the language used via the keyboard
input device. It looks as though I will have to identify
all of the individual apps and see if changing them with
an english distributioin apps cures the problem.

Regards
Mike

System locale tab explains that "The system locale enables applications to
display menus and dialogs in their native language...Menus and dialogs of
Windows will not be affected." as you've certainly read.
