Hi There

I currently have a 80GB hard drive with my OS and other
files on it and 40GB hard drive as a slave with just
media files on it.

I have just purchased a 160GB Maxtor DiamonMax Plus 9
hard drive with the intent on replacing the 40GB with it.

I would like to know if all I have to do is unplug the
old slave and simply slot the new hard drive in format it
and thats it.

The idea being that the new 160GB hard drive will simply
just apear as E drive as was my 40GB drive.... a simple
swap.

The reason for my concern is that iv read that I need to
download Maxiblast 3 and do other certain things with my
Bios, but if im simply doing a straight swap is that all
really nessasary? baring in mind the bois is already set
up for the current setup.

My OS is Windows XP with SP1 installed.

Basicly, how do I do this job as the instructions on the
Maxtor website dont seam to apply to what im doing, or if
they do apply I dont really understand.

Straight swap?

Thanks for any help you can offer me

Depends on the Motherboard BIOS, if it recognizes the full capacity of the hard drive, then "YES" you'll be able to install it how you mentioned in your post

If the drive letter isn't "E:", then go into disk management assign the letter to it, then format the drive

right click on "My Computer", click on "Manage", click "+" next to Storage, click on "Disk Management
