I tried to install my new hp all in one printer a million
times with windows 98 and it would not fully install. I
thought maybe installing windows xp might help and it
only made matters worse. Now when I try to install it and
plug in the usb cable, the computer totally freezes. I am
unable to install anything without it doing this. I got
farther on the install with windows 98! Is there anyone
with some advice out there? I would really appreciate
it!

Describe how you installed the all-in-one? Did you read,
understand and follow HP's instructions to the letter?

If you didn't, you'll have to go into the device manager and
remove all the instances of the device and its drivers (with
the device unplugged) and reboot to clear all the incorrect
registry entries. Then do it by the book.

Clearly if it happened in 98 and XP then you may have
some hardware issues. Take it to a shop and have a
professional look at it.
