I have a Dell Dimension 8250 computer and a Lexmark X85
printer that I have had for about a year. Every once in
awhile I get a message saying "Unable to connect to the
printer" but have always been able to get connected by
doing what I'm told (disconnecting and re-connecting the
USB cable, disconnecting and re-connecting the power
cable or restarting the computer). This time those
things didn't work so I uninstalled the printer and tried
to re-install it. I then get a message saying "There are
no valid INF files for this operating system. Unable to
continue installation". I have contacted both Dell and
Lexmark and they give all kinds of instructions to
correct this but none of them work. I just called
Microsoft and they told me that I could pay $35.00 to get
the problem checked out or I could try posting my
troubles here and see if someone can help me.
