I've been asked to deploy the above tool to a number of people in our
organisation. According to the exe found below there is a /Q switch that runs
it silently. I have tried on a number of machines but this simply doesn't
work. Doeas any one have any idea how to run it silently?

I've also run into problems when using landesk to install it. On ce
installed, it does not appear in the Add/Remove programs, nor does it
install. Yet when you try to re-install - you can't because you get ....
already installed. ....lovely!!

Dont know about the 'silent' but this may help with the other;

The add-in may not be registered correctly. So, try registering the dll with

the following steps.

1. Exit Outlook.

2. On the Start menu click Run

3. In the Open box type the following and click OK.

regsvr32 "c:\program files\microsoft office\office\addins\outbak.dll"

NOTE: You may need to adjust the above path to Outbak.dll to match the

location on your computer.

4. After running the command line start Outlook.

- The above frm an earlier post -

In the version of pfbackup.exe that I use it won't ASK to do the
backup until after I close Outlook. I wasn't aware of the /Q switch,
but have you checked for a backup after you have exited Outlook? I
just downloaded the newer version today that works with Outlook 2003
as well as 2000 and 2002.

Ideally I wish to use a softtware distribution packge to distribute this.

There is a /Q switch, but it simply does not seem to work.

I don't want to deploy this with user intervention.

Any ideas?

I asked about that when you mentioned the /Q switch before but I can't find
anyone who even knew it existed :(

This worked for me - Thank You - I had to modify the file path
regsvr32 "c:\program files\microsoft office\office10\addins\outbak.dll" for
Office XP but it worked great - I tried for hours to get this to work - Thank
You!!!

I want to install this with absolutlely no user intervention.
I have the latest pfbackup.exe file from the download site. The /Q switch is
still not working.
So, I have deployed a test package of pfbackup with an MSI file that i
created (pfbackup.msi). I used the /qn switch and it did copy the necessary
files. I then had to use the regsrv32 to update the .dll. However, i still
does not show up in the add/remove program files. This is mandatory for our
organization to have all programs reported in the control panel. I will do me
no good if i cannot get this in the add/remove programs.
Do we have a resolution on how to install this with no user intervention
that will properly place this backup utility in the add/remove prog in the
control panel preferably without having to run the regsrv32?
