I need help. I am trying to install IE6 on a NT4 Server. The server
currently has IE2. The download stops with an error that indicates a
connection issue, even though the connection is fine. Does anyone have any
ideas, short of ordering the CD?

In fact, that is the best option. If you order a CD for IE6sp1
it will also contain NT4sp6a which is also needed to install IE6
on NT4. However, if you have any other MS products on CD
you may find that you already have IE6 available in one of
their subdirectories as ultimate support for their documentation.

An alternative which used to work is downloading the whole
thing and then installing it offline. E.g. download ie6setup.exe
into its own empty directory and execute from there

ie6setup /c:"ie6wzd /d:1"

The last time I tried that from XP it looked as if it wanted to install
something automatically instead of just downloading it; so I cancelled it.
Suffice to say downloading that way used to work on NT4. YMMV.

(Ref. KB257249 Looks like they've finally fixed all the typos but I still
think that the /s: switch is redundant provided you download the way
I suggest--i.e. let the source path default to the starting directory.
Just don't try to use the Run... dialog then. If you want to use Run...
use the fully qualified syntax demonstrated by the example.)

Good luck
