Hello

Im assigning office 2003 to Group policys computer configuration. It
seems to work fine but about 25% of workstations do not install it at
all. 75% works very good. I used GPResult to see if those 25% of these
workstations won't get GP at all, but they do?!?! I can't understand
why this is so casual. I have just copied files from cd to directory
in my file server and made an mst-file which also works very good, in
those cases where this installation starts. Please somebody help me,
I'm getting desperate... thx

Much like myself, I think you'll end up not liking that method of
deployment.... I'm seeing the error in my ways that I cannot easily apply
service packs and fixes to Office. I believe an administrative installation
would be better used here.

As for why not getting installed? Are the workstations XP? If so, they may
not be waiting for the network on bootup, and you'd need to change that
setting in a policy object. I believe it's in Computer Config>Admin
Templates>System>Logon>Always wait for the network at computer startup and
logon. Enable that setting, and wait for replication to happen. This WILL
increase logon / startup times for the affected computers as it will force
the computer to wait for the network to become available. I don't know if
this could have a negative impact down the road, if your network goes
down--your users may not be able to log on with cached credentials just to
get *something* running.

HTH
