Hi,
I have the NV5 silencer sitting on top of a stack of DVDs. The instruction manual is a little vauge, and being the kind of person who has a panic attack doing this kinda thing, i need a little help ^_^
First of, my 6800nu has nothing on the RAM, only a very small heatsink and a very little fan for the GPU. Considering how larger the fan and heatsink is compaired to the stock cooler, this gives me a little peace of mind that even if i manage to cock-up on the paste and give it a reason to preform less then it should, it wll stil be a big difference from stock cooling anyway.
I am confident i can remove the cooler and everything else. I wont be putting paste on the RAM chips, simply because i can apply thermal paste well enough and "neatly" enough without covering the board with the stuff.
this is what i need confirming on...
1) Take card out, remove stock cooling.
2) wipe GPU with micro-fiber cloth, get most of as i can, then apply Akasa TIM remover ( i assume the GPU is just the same as the CPU? so using a citrus based cleaner is ok? )
3) i will be a little generious with the amount of the thermal paste i put on the GPU, since it doesnt matter to much with the GPU then it would with the CPU.
4) install the cooler and thats that.
All i need is a tick on all those and i will get to work!
