I just purchase a lap top which has Windows Vista on it.
I've been trying to install a new program and it keeps telling me that
that specified path is undetected. I think its because the program supports
Windows XP. It installed the same program on my home computer last night
and it worked. Does this mean I won't be able to put any of my software
programs previously puchased on this new laptop? If not, it serves me no
purpose.

Since you haven't specified what program it is no one can give you specific
help with it.

You should check on the software author's web site for all the program to
see about Vista compatibility. Many will work, but some won't.

Also you can try installing the program in compatibility mode. Right click
the installation file | properties | Compatibility tab. Put a a check in
the box for the mode you want. Also many installation programs need to run
as administrator so when running it right click on the setup file and chose
Run as Administrator.
