Just Wondering

Well, I have decided to swap motherboards whicch has brought me here again
concerning the switch.

In switching the mainboards, will I have to reinstall my operating system
(XP), or should the new system boot up fine after the different board is
installed.

I am think that the MB drivers will be different, since it is going to be a
different brand from what I am using now, so some of the drivers will not
install.

Will uninstalling all the MB drivers fix that???

Thanks

Go to Start>Run type: regedit. Select
HKey_Local_Machine\System\Current Control Set\Enum Delete the Enum
Folder. That has most of your old drivers.

Power your system down. Replace the motherboard. Boot from the Windows XP CD
and perform an Repair Install as detailed here:

Its just foolish not to back up everything first on a motherboard change and
since you have to do that just reinstall windows.

Xp is not perfect and not doing a clean install may come back to haunt you.

Thanks Cari, think that might be be the best, chipsets are differnet, going
from SIS to Intel

Unless the chipsets are exactly the same, you should really do a repair
installation XP.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP

You will have to reinstall SP1 and any other updates since SP1, but your
documents, other programs, files, folders, MP3s, AVIs, etc should all remain
intact.
