Installing New Mob

I'm installing a new mobo tonight. I really don't want to reinstall
everything all over again. My HD setup os a 2 daisk Raid 0. Is there a
way to completely copy my current system? I've seen lots of settings
transfer software, but none that does it all. Can I just copy my C
drive to another disk, than paste it onto the array in Dos after the
new mobo? I don't suppose I can just reconfigure the array on the new
mobo and have it just work, can i?

Thanks for any advice!

If it is the same mobo as the old one, then you might be ok to just
update the bios to the same version you had. Not totally sure though.

just to add:

ONLY! if its the same mainboard and revision ( the raid contoller is the same)

WHENEVER you change the motherboard in a system using a given harddrive with
the OS on it (including RAID arrays), after changing the motherboard you
HAVE to reformat the harddrive (or array) and do a fresh installation of the
OS. Otherwise you can look forward to ongoing Registry errors and data
corruption.

Thanks for the replies and help. I found Laplink program that will at
least get my programs/settings back up after reinstalling the OS.

Again, Thanks!

Is it in fact possible to change the MotherBoard in an XP install
& have it cope with the change ?

sometimes his biggest problem is the raid ,..... has to be the same chipset
most times you don't want to do this, better to AT LEAST do a repair install

Wrong, as always.

Yes, if the motherboard chipset is close enough
and obviously always if its an identical motherboard.

Not in my experience! Even when moving from VIA- to Intel-based boards,
all the transition takes is to restore disc image and then reinstall all the
drivers Windows will want to see installed. Haven't seen any Registry
or data corruption on any of the systems I have upgraded.

What happens is that although windows loads the proper driver files it also leaves the
old DLLs -vxds behind. Kinda like when you go from an ATi to Invidia, things seem to be
alright when just doing a routine delete of the old and install the new. Then weird video
stuff starts happening. Everything can appear to be good, however your hard drive isn't
performing at proper speeds or USB devices get spooky....etc.
