Installing .NETCF permanently

I am trying to get the .NET CF permanently installed on my device. Right
now, every time I power the device down, it seems to forget where the .NET
CF stuff is. I have a compact flash card, and I have tried copying
everything into it that the CAB file installs in /WINDOWS. I'm guessing
there is some kind of registry entry.

I'm dealing with an OS that I did not build, and I have never built one
myself, so I'm somewhat ignorant as to the capabilities, or lack thereof, of
WinCE. I'm assuming that I'm not required to reinstall all my programs every
time I reboot the box. I know I have to do that on my Pocket PC, but with
the application I'm now building, that's unacceptable.

If you don't have the ability to make a new CE image for the device, you
can't permanently install it. It's got to be in \Windows and that's
typically not in any persistent store. The best you can do is always
install on boot, provided your OEM provides some way to determine that's
happening.

The only option I can think of is to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003, where
it is part of the OS in ROM.

As indicated above, if you don't have persistent \windows folder and don't
have persistent registry, you're totally out of luck. Contact the device
vendor and tell them what you want. They're in the best position to tell
you what to do or to change the OS, if they decide to do that.

Thanks, that's what I'll do.
