I'm running Mozilla v1.6 and want to install v1.7

Does anyone know if I have to uninstall v1.6 first?

Thanks.

Yes, you should uninstall 1.6 first.

You might want to install 1.7.2 instead of 1.7 since it includes several
security upgrades.

I think it's recommended to uninstall 1.6 first. You won't lose your
settings since they're in another profile folder. I also believe 1.7.2
is the latest..

Vic,
Copy your user profile folder somewhere first. Then uninstall 1.6
and install 1.7.2. Finally, delete the new profile and copy your
backed up profile to its former location. This works for me.

Thanks for the comments. I did mean to write that the actual version I
want to install is v1.7.2.

BTW, does this version have a spell checker with Composer?

Thanks again for the comments.

1.7.1 certainly does, so I would presume that 1.7.2 does also.

Only needs to be done if your profile is stored in the same directory as your Mozilla program
(e.g c:\program files\mozilla.org\mozilla.

In most cases the profile is actually stored in a separate directory such as
c:\windows\application data\mozilla. This will not be affected by uninstalling the old version
& installing the new version.
