Confused

I belive I may have an illegally copied version of HP
Prof. After much reseach I belive that I need to purchase
a version that I KNOW is valid. I no not need all that
Profesional has and do not want to spend the money if I do
not need it. I think Home XP is fine. If I purchase XP
home, can in Install it over this HP Proff?

XP Pro could be installed over an existing XP Pro installation. To move
from XP Pro to XP Home, you would have to do a clean install of XP Home.

Greetings --

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
