I was wondering how I would go about installing different languages so
that they could be read on Internet Explorer. Everytime I go onto
yahoo.co.kr or other Korean sites, the characters appear as question
marks or blocks. I tried using encoding and then download it from there
but it keeps asking me to insert my Windows XP disk which I don't feel
like looking for. Is there any other way?

Hi Patrick :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

When you to read another language website without installing any
language pack, you'll see some odd characters. In this page, right click
and select
Encoding->More->the language you want (depends on the website you are
visiting), you will be asked to install the corresponding language pack.
Follow the instruction to install, you'll be able to view website.

or..

Language change:

Open Explorer
Click on Tools (on toolbar)
Select Internet Options
Select General tab
Click on Languages tab
Click on Add
Scroll down the list of languages and select the language you want
Click OK
Ok again
Ok to close Internet Options

also...

The problem may be due to a 3rd party plug-in or toolbar is affecting the
functionality of Internet Explorer in the area of national texts typing. If
you have any of these, such as Google or Yahoo Toolbar, disable them, or if
you have Yahoo Companion uninstall it.

There is an updateable list of such plugi-ins here (select the English page
if necessary):

How To Add and Enable Additional Languages in Windows

You can also add/install languages from your Windows CD

also.......

Make sure that Auto-select at the top of the Encoding box in View is not
checked

Then go to IE>Tools>Internet Options>General>Accessibility
Make sure none of the boxes there are checked if not needed.

Then go to the Languages tab and make sure that the language you want is in
the list, and at the *top* of the list. If it's not there, install it. If
it's not at the top, move it to the top of the list, then click OK and close
IE.

Change Language in IE

Tools/Internet Options/ General Tab> at the bottom there is a button for
Languages> Look in the window for the language you want, highlight it and
then click Change. Then close out. Close and reopen IE and the new language
should now be the default language.

If the language you want in not in the window list, click the Add button and
scroll to the language you want, highlight it and then click OK, then
highlight the new language and click on Change.

Hope this helps.

Find the CD. Believe me, you need it, and you want to keep it handy.
