Hello!

I have downloaded the install file from microsoft for the
IPv6 implementation.
I try to install this on a w2k adv server with sp4 - and
receive an error message, that the installed patches are
newer than the one I try to install.
Is there a special switch for the setup.exe or an other
install file?

Thnx

Are you getting that for every file it tries to install or just some? It is
possible that shared files have been updated since the release of this
install.

Roland,

I get this message after I try to run the setup.exe, which
I have downloaded from the ms website.
I checked the possible switches, but there is no tipp
displayed, how I can ignore the installed service packs.

What are you options when you get the message?

I don't think you can just ignore installed service packs. When installing
software, SPs, etc., at times you will get messages during the install that
a driver, .dll, etc. is newer than the one you are trying to install. You
then have the option to skip it or overwrite it, and cancel, IIRC.
Sometimes you will have an application tell you something is newer and then
your only option is to quit.

Which are you experiencing?

Maybe, I have the wrong package? I just start the
setup.exe, the next screen contains the information, that
my service pack is newer. When I click on ok (which is the
only button), a last box appear, where "install canceled"
and a ok button is inside.
I downloaded the tcpipv6-001205.exe

The Microsoft IPv6 Technology Preview for Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 1
or above) is a derivative of the Microsoft Research IPv6 Implementation,
originally intended for application developers. It can be used to begin
learning and experimenting with IPv6 where our current implementations
cannot be used for some reason. There are no plans to release a
production-quality version of IPv6 for Windows 2000. For Microsoft's current
