I've installed FP 2002 on Windows XP Professional, but find I can't create a
web because the server extensions aren't installed. I'm a novice user, so am
not quite sure what to do next. When I installed frontpage 98 many years
ago, the personal web server (if memory serves) was installed along with
frontpage. I don't know whether that is supposed to be installed, or whether
I'm supposed to install IIS, then what to do with the extensions. I do see
where to download them, along with the security patch. But that's about all
I know.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be eternally grateful!

Install IIS from Windows Components - Control panel - Add remove Programs
Start IIS from Start All Programs Administrative tools
Download and install the FP SE - see

Apply the FP SE from IIS

Thanks, Stefan. Here's what I have encountered: I installed IIS. It's v5.1.
I have it up and running and minimized. When I try to install the server
extensions, however, I get the error: 'you do not have iis 4.0 or greater
installed. Please install before installing the server extensions.' I
rebooted and tried it again, and get the same error consistently. Any
thoughts anyone? Thanks...Jan

Did you look at the TechNet link?

Yes. It seems pretty straightforward. The only thing I can think of is that
during IIS installation, the 2000 SEs were installed. But I don't think that
would give me this error message.
