Hi All,

A simple question that will no doubt have simple answer.

I happily use IE6 with absolutely no problems, but i want
to install Firefox and have a play with their browser.
Will Firefox happily work along side IE6 or does
it tend to hijack any of its files to the point where it becomes
unreturnable ?

Basically has anybody had any problems running both
Firefox and IE6 at the same time ??

Thanks
Jonno

John,

No problems here.

I do prefer Firefox, but must keep IE for Windows Updates.

Never encountered any conflict between the 2 browsers (at least not
obvious).

Do give it a try with no fears.

Firefox is compleatly indipendent of IE, except at initial run where
it gives you the option of importing your bookmarks or "favorites" as
microsoft call them, and other configuration options. So yes, Forefox
will run with IE.

"Will Firefox happily work along side IE6 or does it tend to hijack

Programs that tend to let hijackers onto your computer are Internet
Explorer and a few other MS products, any open source program that was
desighned to do such a thing would no dought be banished and the
writer shuned for life, perhaps this is why MS dont let people look at
the windows source? Who knows?

Be wary not to set FireFox as your default browser as it will change all of
your shortcut launches. Resetting IE back as the default browser does not
pick up all of the file associations which results in some links opening in
one or the other browser.

If you use Set Program Access and Defaults to set the default browser, you
can switch back and forth with no problem. The only issue I ever
encountered while using Firefox as my default browser is that Adobe Reader
would always open links in IE, even when Firefox was the default. That
didn't surprise me mcuh -- I've come to expect that Adobe software will be
quirky and refuse to play well with others.

A big thank you to all who have replied with some
good advise about setting Firefox as the default.

Thanks again
Jonno :o)

thanks Gary. I was having problems with that. Kind of ignored it. But I'm
back with IE now. Thx.
