I hope somebody can help. I have recently switched computers and my new
notebook is running Vista Home Premium (Acer Aspire 9410). While I was moving
my data over, I was able to access my Epson Stylus Color 740 printer over the
network when it was plugged in to my old notebook running XP and I could
print fine from the Vista machine.
Now I want to switch over 100% and this morning I tried to plug the printer
directly into the Acer's USB port. In common with every USB device that I
have tried so far it failed to automatically find the drivers so I had the
system browse my C drive. It found a digitally signed driver in
c:\windows\inf\prnep001.inf but failed to install it, saying that it was
unable to find a core driver package that was required by the printer
package. What core driver is it looking for? Is this connected to the fact
that Vista seems never to find the drivers it needs automatically?
Thanks for any help.
