I would like to install DNS on an existing Domain
Controller. Does anyone know the specific steps for
adding DNS to an Active Directory Domain Controller? Or,
know which Knowledge Base Article that would cover this?

Thank you,
Joel

No special process just go to Add Remove programs and install DNS.

To add, check this site out. Microsoft's section completely devoted to DNS
and hundred's of how to's:
www.microsoft.com/dns

Thank you both for your responses.

Where I am getting a little fuzzy is creating the zone.
The zone on my existing server is a primary, active
directory integrated zone. When I setup my zone on my new
DNS server, do I create this as a primary, and integrate
it with active directory? Does active directory then
populate the zone through replication?

Thank you,
Joel

If it is a DC and in the same domain, make it AD integrated and it will get
its data from Active Directory, zone transfers are not needed.

You said it!
Just as Kevin said, all you do is create the zone and make it AD Integrated.
Since the other one is already AD Integrated, the zone data pops right up!

Gee, do I feel silly. I just installed DNS on the
server. It seemed to automatically create the active
directory zone on its own. Cool.

Thank you all for your help.
Joel

Don't feel silly. You would never have learned any new info if you didn't
post any questions!

If you have any more questions, please feel free to post.

:-)
