installing disk drives?

Whenever i insert a CD into my Dell Windows Vista laptop, no auto-play comes
up and when i click on my computer too see whether it is recognised, nothing
is there, so i think i need to install another disk drive.

I have RECOVERY(D) and OS(C) at the moment which are memory drives i think.
How can i get my laptop to play and recognise my CDs? Nothing to technical
please, not too good with computers!
