I have Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

I just purchased a Sprint World Edition Blackberry 8830.

I am trying to install the disk on my laptop and at the end of the install I
get this message:
"1. Failed to install ISKernal Files. Make sure you have appropriate
privileges on this machine."

My machine is not networked. I am the only one who uses it. Sprint and
Blackberry support do not have this error message and say it must be
Microsoft. And of course I am a month beyond my 90-day free support. HELP

I created the shortcut. I did not get a "run as administrator" option. But
under properties I found the system administrator and it has full permission.
I still get the same error.
Now what?

With Home edition, it's difficult to say how an app not written for Vista
might be put in. There were tricks in XP to workaround rights issues, like
booting to Safe Mode, and installing the app to the 'Public' folders. Worth
a try, thought I don't know if it will do it. To run the app you may need a
better version of Vista. One that has the default "Administrator' account
available.

What version of Blackberry Desktop software are you installing? You
need 4.2 or higher for Vista compatibility.

Thanks for your help, Mark. I had lunch with a twenty-something tech guy. I
carted in my laptop and he saw something I had not. The blackberry icon was
already on the desktop. I was getting the error message because I was trying
to install over the already installed software!
Peace, Nancy
