I have a Windows 2000 Pro system with a 40 Gig drive as C: I installed another 20 Gig hard drive and it does not show up in My Computer as another hard drive. Only C:(hard drive), A:(3 1/2 floppy), D:(Compact Disc), & Control Panel shows up in My Computer. In System Properties, under Hardware, under Device Manager, under +Disk drives --> shows two disk drives: the first one is the 20 Gig hard drive, and second is the 40 Gig hard drive and both are working fine with no conflicts. I can't access the 20 Gig hard drive.

Have you prepaired the disk?

Partition and format the 20GB drive (choose NTFS for the file system.) This
will become D:, and the CD will become E:. You change the drive letters if
you want, but IMO there's no advantage to that.

HTH&GL.

Partitioning the new drive will let it show up in My Computer with a drive letter. Partitioning and
formatting will let it show up in My Computer AND be usable.
