I am trying to re-install an older version of
Office/Powerpoint 97 Professional (upgrade purchased from
Office 97 home version). I do not have the home version CD
(OEM), purchased as a package with a previous computer.
The 97 Professional CD , I have with the serial number,
will not let me install the program. It is looking for the
home version first before upgrading to the professional
version.

Is there a way to get around this and install this older
version? After all, I did purchase both the home 7
professional versions!

Greatly appreciated

It may be that the OEM version is licensed to *that machine* and no other.
MS does a lot of that...the manufacturer gets a really special price and MS
doesn't have to provide support. So, license-wise you may be stuck trying to
go this route.

The O97 upgrade package used to work with just about anything, I believe.
That is, a valid copy of PowerPoint 95 might suffice. And you can't have
mine. :-) If you can obtain a retail or upgrade version of Office 95 or
Office 97 or some component of the same, you might be OK.

--Standard Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on this subject, and I don't work
for MS, so don't call me if the software police bang down your door. :-)
