Hi,

Is it possible to install ADS on a Standalone computer
(windows 2000 advanced server)with Network Adapter, but no
access to hub or router?

I am able to ping the localhost, but when I type
ipconfig/all i get the media disconnected error.

I configured a static ip as well.

Any idea?

thanks for the help,
Harsha

In order to install AD your nic must be connected to a hub. See the
following article

Error Message: "Active Directory Installation Failed: The Network Location
Could Not Be Reached"

Yes. You can do it. What you have to do is, just connect a network cable
from your machine to a hub only for the DCPROMO. Then you can dissonnect the
cable. The DCPROMO process will check for the network connectivity. You
don't have to use the Hub connected to the production network you can use a
"stand alone" hub.
